Laboratory Testing People can report a variety of symptoms or complaints relating to issues involving their body metabolism (biochemistry). These symptoms can be new or longstanding. These symptoms can also be occasionally noticed or a constant issue. Laboratory testing is a cost effective and objective tool to screen and identify imbalances in body metabolism. It serves as a practical way to assess major body functions. The traditional medical approach in laboratory testing is to measure biomarkers of the blood (such as glucose, cholesterol, etc) via a laboratory (pathological) range. When lab results fall outside this laboratory range - indicates pathology / disease processes are likely. An additional approach to consider is to measure biomarkers of the blood via a functional (optimal) range. When lab results fall outside the functional range (but within the laboratory range) - indicates there is a risk for a pathology / disease to develop. In an effort to be cost and clinically efficient, one should first answer and forward to this office a metabolic assessment questionnaire. The symptoms that you note via the questionnaire would suggest what type of lab panels to run. Generally, the more biomarkers you test for - the more you know about your health. Many are surprised to learn that to have an expanded / comprehensive test is not that more expensive than having a commonly ordered basic chemistry panel. In addition to blood chemistries, useful laboratory are commonly found via fecal and salivary testing procedures. Preferred laboratory services / facilities include: Clinical Pathology Laboratories
