GI – Immune System Clearing Protocol
Step 1 Lemon Juice Fast
You will conduct a modified fast for 3-5 days. A minimum of three days is required for best results. During the fast you are not permitted to take any supplements. Your dietary intake is limited to a lemon juice mixture. The ingredients are the following:
You will make a concentrate of this drink by combining equal amounts of the lemon juice and the sweetener. I suggest 8 ounces of each to make approximately 3 days worth. This concentrate will store refrigerated for about 4-5 days. You will add approximately one to two ounces of this concentrate to 10 ounces of water. An option is to add a slight pinch of cayenne. You will take sips of the drink every 15-20 minutes. It is important to know that you will drink and urinate all day.
If you are taking sips all day you should be able to stabilize your blood sugar without any foods. Daily drinking of a laxative herb tea in the morning and evening is suggested to help elimination. Additional water and hot green tea is permitted to drink all day during the fast also.
The strict limitation of food is important because you are trying to decrease the antigen load to your immune system. Many individuals that have their neuroendocrine – immune system up-regulated are usually sensitive to the foods that they eat most often. The goal of the fast is not to decrease calories, but rather decrease the antigenic load. The reason lime and lemon juice is used is due to their alkalinizing properties which are usually required. Organic grade B maple syrup or organic agave nectar sweetener is suggested because of their more nutritious contents and lower glycemic index.
Do not do the above fast if you are insulin dependent or on medication that does not allow you to fast.
Step 2 Medical Meals
After finishing the above fast, you can consume powdered medical meals plus one fresh vegetable each day for 3-7 days. Preferred medical meal options are Apex ClearVite or Metagenics UltraMeal Plus 360. The vegetable should be different for each day. Fresh is better than frozen. You may have as much of each as you want. You should take your recommended supplements also.
Step 3 Adding Food
You can start to add one food back into your diet at a time. You should keep a dietary journal and notice any symptoms when any new food is added to your consumption.
